Qualifications by Role

1. Responsible Individuals

Responsible Individuals typically hold:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Senior leadership experience in children's social care
  • Extensive knowledge of Children's Home Regulations & the Quality Standards
  • Safeguarding Level 3
  • Senior management and compliance training

2. Regulation 44 Visitors

Reg 44 Visitors usually have:

  • Professional qualification in Social Work, Education, or Health (for example Social Work England registration desirable)
  • Strong understanding of Children's Home Regulations
  • Experience in senior or regulatory roles within children's services
  • Safeguarding Level 3

3. Registered Managers

Registered Managers are required to have:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (mandatory)
  • Extensive experience in children's residential care
  • Safeguarding Level 3
  • Leadership, supervision, and safer recruitment training
  • Strong knowledge of legislation and Ofsted requirements

4. Deputy Managers

Deputy Managers usually hold:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (required)
  • Working towards Level 5 Leadership & Management
  • Shift leadership experience
  • Safeguarding Level 3
  • Training in behaviour management and trauma-informed practice

5. Senior Support Workers

Senior Support Workers typically have:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (required or working towards)
  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff
  • Safeguarding Level 2 or 3
  • Behaviour management and de-escalation training
  • Trauma-informed practice training

6. Residential Support Workers

Residential Support Workers usually hold:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards within 2 years)
  • Safeguarding Level 2
  • Training in trauma-informed care, behaviour support, and emotional wellbeing
  • First Aid training
  • Safer handling and de-escalation training (for example PRICE, SCIP, or equivalent)

7. Residential Support Workers

Residential Support Workers usually hold:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards within 2 years)
  • Safeguarding Level 2
  • Training in trauma-informed care, behaviour support, and emotional wellbeing
  • First Aid training
  • Safer handling and de-escalation training (for example PRICE, SCIP, or equivalent)

8. Social Workers

Qualified Social Workers hold:

  • Degree in Social Work (BA/MA) or equivalent
  • Registration with Social Work England
  • Safeguarding Level 3
  • Specialist training in assessments, care planning, and multi-agency working
  • Experience in children's services

9. Therapeutic Support Practitioners

Therapeutic staff may have:

  • Qualifications in Psychology, Counselling, Mental Health, or Therapeutic Practice
  • Trauma-informed care training (essential)
  • Experience offering emotional wellbeing or behavioural interventions
  • Additional therapeutic certifications (for example CBT skills, play therapy, mentoring certificates)

10. Behaviour Support Specialists

Behaviour specialists typically hold:

  • Qualifications in Behavioural Science, Psychology, SEN, or similar
  • Professional training in behaviour management frameworks
  • Experience writing behaviour support plans
  • Trauma-informed and de-escalation training
  • Safeguarding Level 2 or 3

11. Ofsted Business Support Specialists

Ofsted Business Support Specialists typically have:

  • Qualifications or professional training in Administration, Business Support, HR, or Compliance
  • A strong working knowledge of Ofsted regulations, Children's Homes Regulations, and Safer Recruitment requirements
  • Training in GDPR, data protection, and information governance

Payroll and Financial Administration

  • Rolling out digital clock-in/out systems and home management software
  • Leading staff training on new systems

  • Promoting consistent documentation and record-keeping standards

Recruitment and Safer Recruitment Compliance

We lead the full recruitment lifecycle, ensuring all processes meet Safer Recruitment and Ofsted standards.

This includes:

  • Vacancy advertising and candidate shortlisting
  • Interview coordination and candidate selection
  • Right-to-work checks
  • DBS processing and tracking
  • Reference verification and onboarding
  • Maintaining staff files in line with Ofsted regulations for children's services

Workforce Planning and Rotas
